1963—Domestic Production Winds Down

The first 1963 radio in the collection is the Royal 710LK. This radio is the same electronically as earlier Royal 710 models with the exception of adding a "battery saver" switch. Since some other manufacturers have added this advertising gimmick, Zenith followed suit with several of their radios.

This feature was added to the Royal 790Y radio which became the Royal 790YK. This circuit was a gimmick, since these radios will play for months on a fresh set on batteries. Other than this circuit, the radio stayed unchanged.
