A Zenith Royal 500 Transitional Model

Here are several pictures of a Royal 500 hand-wired chassis radio with vernier tuning. In May, 1956, Consumer Reports criticized the small recessed tuning knob on the Royal 500. Responding immediately to the criticism, Zenith introduced a hand-wired chassis version with vernier tuning. This model was manufactured prior to the introduction of the 1957 printed circuit chassis. I have seen only two examples of this particular style radio.
